Because suddenly, there are a lot of them. We are less than two weeks away from:
- The season premiere of Project Runway.
- A new volume of Scott Pilgrim.
- The release of Super Mario Galaxy for the Wii.
But even beyond the short term, there's a new Joss Whedon/Eliza Dushku TV show, Dollhouse, and -- wait for it -- a new X-Files movie with a release date! July 25, 2008. Time to get my suit and flashlight ready.
The most compelling reason to cash out my 401k that I've yet seen:

Holy crap, son -- there was a Bubble Bobble 2?!? The first game really needs to wind up on the Virtual Console as soon as possible... I never did manage to beat that final boss, as far as I can recall...
And yeah, this has kind of turned into a video-game blog, hasn't it? Sorry. I intend to change that soon.
I always wear my seat belt when driving, but never wear the wrist strap when Wii-ing.

Learn it, live it, love it. Add me as a friend, I need them. Also, this whole Wii code thing is kind of bullshit and the process of adding friends is deeply nonintuitive. Everybody has been complaining about this, Nintendo; I know you need some kind of child-molester protection but come the hell on, this is not working for anybody.
Anyway, I was up until 3AM playing TWILIGHT PRINCESS last night and I've only made it to the Goron Mines. Sigh. Also, it kind of bugs me that the plot setup and general feel of that level is pretty much identical to the Dragon Roost level in WIND WAKER. But still, fun.
So yeah: I finally laid my hands on a Wii. I went into the Nintendo Store after work last night intending to ask somebody about the status of the usual morning lines and found, to my pleasant surprise, that they had consoles right there and then. So much for paying down all my credit card debt! All I bought was ZELDA, though, so I didn't go too overboard... unfortunately they didn't have any extra Wiimotes in stock, so multiplayer fun is going to have to wait. BUT STILL. This was the perfect rainy three-day weekend to finally land myself one of these puppies, especially since I hadn't realized I'd have Monday off work until yesterday... bonus score! Let the brain-melting and thumb-pain begin. (Oh yeah... I might've also bought F-ZERO and SUPER MARIO 64 on the Virtual Console. And will probably buy STREET FIGHTER II before the weekend is over. What'd I say about not going overboard?)
Finish this sentence: "What in the world was I thinking when I...?"

"...got up at 5AM this morning, stood outside in the rain for an hour and a half, and still failed to get a Wii from the Nintendo Store?"
Seriously, I showed up at 6:09 AM -- two hours before the store opens -- and there were already over a hundred people in line. In the rain. SIGH. I'm never going to get one of these things, am I.
So yeah... if anybody knows where in New York City a brother can get a Wii, do please let me know. It sure ain't the Nintendo World store. SIGH.
I NEED ZELDA, PEOPLE. I NEEEEEED IT.
What's on your Top 5 video games list?

Oh man oh man. Off the top of my head, in unranked order --
Tetris. You just can't go wrong.
The Legend Of Zelda: Link To The Past. The first video game I remember beating and being super-duper proud of doing so. I'm gonna avoid the cop out and not put Wind Waker on the list as well, but it's pretty much just as good, if radically different (fifteen years of graphics development under its belt, for example).
Super Mario World. I love the classic NES games, but this is definitely the all-time Mario game for me. Of course, Super Mario 64 is also great, and I'm currently playing New Super Mario Bros. for the DS, so I guess I just really like Mario.
Mega Man 2. Purely because it's my sentimental favorite of the NES Mega Man games. I might secretly like 4 better, since by then you could slide and do the power-blast and all that fancy stuff, but when I think of Mega Man, 2 is what springs to mind.
Goldeneye. Mario Kart Double Dash almost took this spot, but it's not as much fun in single-player mode as Goldeneye, so. This is probably the only first-person-shooter game I've ever truly loved.
I kinda wanna go home and play video games all night now, but it's dodgeball playoffs night -- wish me and the rest of the DC comics team luck! And yeah, I never did post about the dodgeball team, so maybe I'll do that soon.
